Design Pillars
Building Community
I have always been benefited from games' ability to bring people together. From local card shops to discord and conventions. I never feel far from the gaming community.
That is why as a designer I intentionally integrate mechanics, systems, and formats to promote collaboration and/or communication to bolster communities in-game and beyond.
Forward Thinking
Between power, complexity, and feature creep. Longevity in live operations or expansion-reliant titles can be a taxing to maintain.
My outlook on forward thinking has been greatly shaped by my experiences as a member of the Magic: the Gathering and League of Legends communities.
Player Expression
To me, player expression means that users are always able to approach gameplay in a their own way.
From Champions and items in League of Legends to loadouts and perks in Call of Duty; I believe that player expression takes on many forms and that exceptional designers are able to promote player expression while limiting or creating scalar complexity.
